gypsynose
So very excited to get to the Bar Method studio tonight. I hope my back is up to it. FInally there is a studio in Chicago though. i neever thought it would happen. I'll be curious how different being in an actual class vs doing the video will be. Can't wait! I feel bad i wont be taking pilates but i'll be there weekly soon enough, i've been waiting for this forever! rock on!

cut off my hair last night, very strange to have it short again. Hubby has to get his sleep apnea tested today :(, and i'm not sure if a friend of ours is safe and ok or not talking to us since we haven't been able to get in contact with her for over a week. Hoping everything is alright.

Wish this week was over. I'm tired, still have a bit of a cold and just want to get some extra sleep. i HOPE i can get some friday or saturday.

on with my boring day

dont know what happened but i've had a bit of laryngitis. Started Thursday morning and it's still a little stressed but much better than it was. The last time this happened as bad was almost 13 years ago when i had problems for about a week and just before i had to perform in Into The Woods. I'm taking it easy and not really speaking again today. Friday night was the worst trying to yell over the table at the ladies for ladies night but it was nice getting to know a few more of the Mason's wives. i guess our next ladies thing will be at a spa. It should be interesting. Dinner is one thing spending a lot more time at a spa is different BUT it's on the lodge so hey why not? :)
not too much else going on. I've been going to the chiropractor to see if we can fix this problem. I've been a little lax this last week on my workouts but every now and again i need a break. Trying to figure out if we can take a vacation this year. It would be nice but it depends on how what is going on with the studio and film. I also need to start studying for my Pilates training starting in September. SO MUCH TO DO!

k, so i'm going to get to it. have a good day

the past few weeks i've been suffering from back problems and decided to go to a chiropractor. The first guy was such a waste of time and was all about sales and the scare tactic. DOnt think they really care about the people coming in. i was shocked to have them measure my hips with my shoes on. 2 inch heels on the boots too. very different from what i hae experienced in the past. They have blaring music too which to me is strange. Found someone else and juts a few block away from our place and we really like him. my back felt great after he worked on it.

Saturday we took it easy. i went for a massage to see if i could loosen up the shoulder and upper back area. the chiropractor thought it would help too. felt pretty good afterwards and we decided to just relax a bit. we were going to pick up a little but we watched some movies instead. the hubby took a long nap and we stopped on down to see a friend on set of Debra Messings new film. the were filming down the block so we stopped over, unfortunately Debra wasn't there :( after we stopped in to chat we decided to stopo and have a drink over at Atlanta. 1 drink led to about 7 or so apple martinis and we were pretty tired yesterday. Boy we dont recover like we used to. Dont know how we did it all the time.

this week i need to figure out where to take mike for his bday tomorrow night and then my baby chris is in town. it's gonna be a busy week.

over the weekend my back was feeling better (still a little pain) but i decided to take Mat class at the studio. It was going fine until we got to shoulder bridge and my back said NO NO NO!!!! Did what i could to finish and was almost in tears by the time i got home it was hurting so bad. SUCKOLA! so i opted to rest for a bit, we had already said we would stop out to see our friend Charley play at an openeing so we stopped in for a short time and i went home, rested a little more, took ibuprofin and then a bath to see if it would release at all. It's a different problem that i've had in the past so this kinda sucks big time.
tried meeting up with some friends at a local restaurant but that didn't quite work out, we'll have to try again. My back was happy that i was able to go home and lay down again.
Maya stopped over to go over ink ideas and such and of course we always watch a movie of some sort :)
rested for the remainder of the night trying to find a comfrotable position with the back and nexk and went to bed. i know so exciting isn't it. Hoping this chiropractor can do something nice for me tomorrow. we'll see.

Feels like every day just melts into the other right now. would love to take a small vacation right now but we just cant. hopefully in the next few months before we have absolutely no free time at all.

stupid busy schedule. I will be done with my thursday night class at the end of March and i'm happy about it because it's time i'll be able to spend in the Pilates studio but sad at the same time since i enjoyed teaching it. i had to do it though and starting to study for my certification. I've a lot to learn in a short time with not a lot of free time so i have to find it.

anyway that's about it for me.

Well this past weekend we took it pretty easy especially with the cold. We went to the Christening for our God Daughter. She did really well no crying and thank goodness becasue i was holding her :) Maya stopped over monday and shared some news with us that she'll be announcing soon, i've recently decided to continue my education with Pilates and will start training on the apparatus in the fall. Unfortunately i have to give up my latin dance class that i teach becasue i need to focus and get into the studio for class. I'm staying on their list for subbing but it'll be harder for me to get that hour of cardio. i guess i'll actually have to get to the gym for that darned spinning class.

Found out yesterday my sisters knee surgeries yes plural ended up being a little worse than they thought. It was supposed to be easy in and out for both knees but found in her "good" knew that the ACL wasn't attached so it creadted a little but more work so now instead for 7 weeks being out and easier physical therapy she cant even be ON her feet for 2 weeks and about 4-5 months of brutal therapy. i'm hoping that she just sells the house and comes back home. i think it will be too hard for her and her knees to continue in Montana but who knows. They said she'll probably be getting knee replacements BEFORE 50. dang she's only going to be 35. i feel so bad for her.

In other news my back is still bothering me after about 2 weeks andi wish i knew what i did but i'll push through continue with what i can of my workouts and eating well which we've been doing really good with. love love love my snack of natural PB and graham crackers. YUM!

weekend [Feb. 12th, 2008|07:23 am]

Had a fanastic weekend. we actually pretty much turned off the phones and relaxed. watched about 8 movies maybe between friday and sunday. we also braved the cold sunday morning and a frozen shut fence for pancake breakfast with the Chong clan. Man those kids are cute!!!!!! looking forward to officially being able to be a bad influence and talking Baby M to dying her hair blue or something when she gets older :) hahahaha MB are you sure you made the right decision with us? :)

Still staying crazy busy and been trying to keep up my workouts. so far so good for the most part. I've been working through lunches some days and it's difficult to always get the workout in but i usually try to make it up on an off day or the weekend. Since i'm hooked on the biggest loser i know i'll be doing some extra cardio on the elliptical while watching. Not sure that i'm too crazy about this cottage cheese stuff. used to love it but that has kinda changed. oh well lots of other good stuff out there.

have a lovely week. stay safe!

crappy weather and other stuff [Feb. 8th, 2008|08:14 am]
gypsynose
so yeah it's been pretty crappy out lately. my car broke down on my way to work the other day, well kinda hard to explain and had to call the lovely hubby at 6:20AM to come get me. He took the car and i took the truck the rest of the way to work. Car gets fixed and oh lordy the weather isn't lokoing nice so i called in to let my boss know i brought work home and wouldn't be in. he was totally fine with that. Glad i made that decision since when i got to the office Thursday i found out the company closed at 11:00 and sent everyone home. good thing is since i actually worked and didn;t know they closed i'll get some extra time off. Been having to take the truck to work though becasue it's 4 wheel drive, better wheels and of course the horn :)my car doesn't have a horn. :(

have a christening coming up soon and very excited about that. Pancake breakfast sunday which will be my cheat day. We've ben sticking to our guns pretty much on the eating healthy thing and although it's tough we otta do it. been keeping up with our workouts too and it really does irritate me when i have to miss one and make it up. I'm also using saturdays to work on the pole to work muscles in a differetn way plus i still hope to do a little something in the film. we'll figure it out.

other than that we're staying busy with meetings, calls, work, errands, pricing studio stuff, flooring, paint, etc. SO MUCH! the good thing is we've enjoyed doing it all together and that's what counts. cant wait to start seeing everything happen and transform.

ok back to work. have a good weekend!

Things are going well still crazy hectic. unfortunately not enough time to visit with friends lately but we need to make everything is going the way it's supposed to with the studio and hopefully everyone understands adn i think they do.

Still getting to work at 6:30 so doing the summer hours without getting off at 11:00 fridays :( but i'll use the extra time to leave early a few days and such. Just so busy in the office right now and get to even busier after work. Maybe we'll go down to Nashville sooner than later to visit friends. who knows.

adding one more class to teach but it's the same night as another so thats' fine with me and it's a class i'm really happy to bring back Stretch and Strength. Hope this gym likes it as much as the first one. we'l see starting next week.

I'm also going to go through System 1 training for the pilates studio and start training on the reformer. It doesnt' start until september so hopefully with the studio being open for a few months by then i'll have the time to study. we'll see. i have to do it sometime. i'd like to get out of the gym or be abe to work one on one with people.

so yeah that's really it. nothing too exciting. on to paperwork today. :(

Life just keeps getting busier and crazier. DH running to Nashville for business, getting together with the studio designer. we finished all business tax stuff and have it turned in and now finishing the peronal stuff and making all the new folders for stuff. oh what fun getting that organized. there is just so much more.

unfortunately watched our team lose last night :( hopefully next year might be it for us.

it's been nice being busy and back to my normal workout routine. Sure i have to be to work by 6:30 incase i need more than an hour at lunch but i'm getting it done. the eating healthy thing is a bit easier since i dont eat too poorly but i have my days. in any case i'm feeling pretty good and just need to get going on the pole since i got the Jamilla dvd's from my MIL for christmas :) just cant stand going to the studio for classes. too many girls just giggling and "cant believe we're doing this" "oh my gosh" giggle giggle. UGH!

gots to get back to my duties here :( adios!

you know what? having eggs and oats everyday for breakfast gets old. oops dont forget that apple too. it's easy but i'm just getting tired of it. SOme of the stuff we've been cooking for dinners have turned out well. Hopefully we can come up with ta few more good recipes.

workouts are going well and no working out is not a New Years resolution. I finally got back to a normal schedule in the past few weeks and am able to do everything on a normal basis again where i can plan what's going on so i'm very happy about that.

gotta get to work. busy busy busy these days.

a whole new year [Jan. 7th, 2008|07:29 am]

well the chaos of 2007 is over and the end of that year was just insanely busy from designing the studio to travelling to Jordan to NY to the holidays and a great New Year with friends and 6 pounds of smoked beef. It was a couple month ride through insanity but we made it and it was all worth it and we're lucky to have our small group of friends and family supporting us. i just cant believe how far we've gotten. it's crazy seeing everything coming together after 2 years of trying to make it happen. The most amazing thing is that we didn't try to kill each other during any of this time just stuck together and stayed positive.

anyway 2008 is going to be a doozy. Looks like we're definitely not going to Mexico in April with the family but it's juts not possible with our schedules and business coming up. we may not even get to do our annual big trip so it might be industry related trips we do this year but it might be film festivals in Berlin or something or Music industry stuff which i'm ok with. we still have the free tickets to Hawaii so maybe we'll use those but we might be able to make it to Thailand or something you never know.

I'm looking forward to things to come, accepting my new boss at my office and how much i want to yell at him most of the time. he's a nice guy but not really managament material but he tries so i cant fault him for that. Just wish i could teach him common sense. oh well.

oh i also cant forget top on our list in february the christening of our beautiful goddaughter Maggie. SHe's such a little doll.

well many things great to come i think it's going to be a good year

ugh [Dec. 20th, 2007|08:45 am]

so i survived travelling over seas but this last trip to NY got me. we got home late tuesday and i woke up wednesday with the worst cold ever. cant breathe, cant hear, coughing, you name it. it sucks!

the trip to NY however was fantastic. started out kinda sucky with our 6am flight being cancelled, but we got to the city about 4 hours later than we were supposed to. stayed in TImes Square at a decent hotel. walked around in the cold rain a bit and met up with friends later on. so happy to see them. woke up monday, went to breakfast and 2 5 1/2 hour seminar (the main reason we were there)we were a sponser for it and i must say i learned a lot from it. nice to finally get to go to an industry event. stopped to et a pastrami sandwish at Roxy's afterwards only because we had to pass it then stopped at the bar for a few drinks and watched the bears lose :)haha

monday i was sturuggling with a lost voice and a tickle inthe throat but it didnt stop us from going to see Lady liberty and Ellis Island. I was there about 12 years ago but Mike hasn't so we did that. Just as interesting the second time. hopefully nect time we go we'll have more time to spend doing stuff. we ended our stay very nicely meeting with Elizabeth at the Penn Club for drinks. it's been 2 years since i've seen her so i was really happy to get a chance to sit and chat with her again.

so yes i have a cold but the trip was worth it and i'll survive. santa just may have to visit the kids without Mrs. Claus this weekend.

and we're back [Dec. 7th, 2007|06:57 am]

well we survived Jordan and the few days in Cairo visiting our friends. All in all a great trip saw some amazing things and made a few more friends which is always nice. Bought a lot of stuff but we always do. LOVE LOVE LOVE stuff from the middle east especially the darned laterns. i'm surprised we didn't bring more than one home. I think one of the best days was crawling around Petra i think we spent about 9 hours there and could have spent so many more. i only with we would have been able to crawl up the the high point but it was getting a little late and our knees were starting to be a problem for both of us.
Making mint tea at home simply isn't the same and i actually found a tea that mike really likes. Cinnamon tea. Who knew? i also found out after being in Turkiye twice and not trying it because i normally cant drink it that i really love Turkish coffee which is one of the main staples in Jordan. mmmm so good AND doesn't bother my belly.
Let's see floated in the Dead Sea which was really fun. the only bad thing was the guy lookingat me with the binoculars and having my picture taken from afar quite a few times. I was the only woman there until an older european woman showed up. luckily i wore stretch pants over my suit or i would have had even more attention from the ink. oh but i found 1 dinar floating in the sae which we laughed at. My MIL even said leave it to Dana to sniff out money floating in the Dead Sea :)
Let's see we drove up a large Rock in the desert and had a Beduoin lunch that Ayman made for us which was really good. I got to use the desert as a bathroom that day too. i have to say it's at least cleaner than a squat hole which reminds me that M finally used his forst squat hole and wasn't very fond of it :) HA!

Other higlights from the trip:

having a drink in the cave bar
having fresh sheep and goat for lunch yum!
Jerash is relaly neat
the desert castles
Bethany where mike was able to somewhat rebaptize himself in the River Jordan
Mt Nebo how amazing!
riding horses and camel to see the sun go down behind the pyramids and riding a horse around the desert there AWESOME!
just sitting and visiting our friends

there's so much more and now feels like we were never there. we have one more trip to go this year. sponsering an event in NYC, then comes the family thing in Mexico in March and we're thinking Thailand or Japan for the next big trip. we'll see.

THings have been very hectic and we've been mega stressed and running around like chickens with their heads cut off. business meetings, teaching, dinners, papers, phone calls, cleaning, preparation, etc.

dont get me wrong it's been crazy and scary but all very much worth it and got some FANTASTTIC NEWS yesterday. It took a little longer than anticipated to get to this point but i think we've had good judgement and made the right decisions along the way.

so with the good news i think we can leave for our trip feeling good knowing that we'll be ready to go when we get home. we WIL be doing a little business on vcaation but why not we can then write a bit off :) M met the Jordanian film office in LA so they offered to meet up with us on our free day and take us out and we'll talk about possible co-producing too. They sound very interested in working with us. then when we're back in Cairo for a few days and really this part is almost all for business. trying to find fabrics for the studio, cairo int'l film festival is going on so we'll stop there and M wants to see if he can set up a meeting adn then we're going to watch our friend Amr's 3rd finished film. cant wait to leave for our trip!

once we're back there is no rest for us. meetings right away and then off to New York for a short trip and then we're pretty much at Christmas, New Year tradition with a few friends :)after that then our schedules get REALLY busy and i dont know that most people will really see us for a few months. then we'll be off to Mexico for a week.

2008 i think is going to be crazy but a realy good crazy. and that's it for now.

so the week was pretty mcuh the same with teaching and getting in the studio..of course. 3 of those day i've really no choice but i love teaching.

Let's see anything new and exciting. The article about Mike and the studio was published in SCREEN Magazine on Monday. It's nice to start getting the word out through print about what's going on. He's been working so hard to make things happen it's nice to see we're finally progressing further. It's slow but fast at the same time. we've run into some major and minor humps along the way but we're getting there and WILL get there.

Last week we stopped out to go to a going away party for some friends that are moving. It was good to see everyone. I'm not sure they'll really miss us but hey if we wouldn't have gone i wouldn't have seen my honey chris in from Denver. I guess i should have called him back earlier. It was great seeing him and having his stay again.

other than that a nice Black Tie dinner this evening for the Masons and an Octoberfest party at my folks saturday...

i forgot to post this last week so i'll just add, had a good time at eh mason thing but i was very tired. up early for an appt and got out o my folks house where miek and i did the cooking so mom and pop could finish other stuff. Had a good time, mike and I fell asleep early :) stayed sunday to watch some old halloween flicks like alligator people, got home watched room 1408 and went to bed. now i'm back to monday. phew!

so last week was busy as normal. teaching MWTH at the PIlates studio for my privates tuesdays, fancy friday dinner. i got 2 kinds of fish this time. i was realy happy that the apron i bought Mike finally came in too. It has a skull on it.

saturday was a busy day. 7:30 appointment downtwon, 9:00 Pilates private at the studio and then on to McCormick Place for Club Industry. Mike woke up and went with me to these too. so corner bakery at 7:30 and the bookstore while i was at the studio for him :)Picked up a couple items at the fitness show to add to our fitness equipment. gto them at a really good price so yay! we fianlly got home around 3-3:30 had something to eat and pretty much rested. we were just worn out after the full week and morning we had plus on the agenda was totally cleaning out the kitchen and pantry and i didn't want to start that at 5:00.

sunday we ended the weekend with some fun. another early morning BUT we were at the Chongs for pancake breakfast so i dont mind being up at all. got to see my kids and have a nice visit with mama and dada. the boy came running up to see aunty dana :) so cute. learned what a kangaroo and lion say. hahaha. got home around 10:30 and we started taking everything out of the kitchen and pantry, washed everything down cabinets, floors, shelves, microwave, i mean EVERYTHING. Finished the pantry and floors part but we still have to take care of the dish cabinets and lok like it wont happen totally until saturday, hey what can you do? Had to also go to take class at the dance studio which was fun. Didn't stay for dancing afterwards this time but i will this week since its the last week. i think i'll definitely spend more time at the studio after this. It's been fun.

ok back to doing HR's part of recruiting.
